HOW TO STAY SAFE ON-SITE
AT BRAUNCEWELL QUARRIES

SAFETY CLOTHING MUST BE WORN

You will not be allowed to enter our site without wearing appropriate safety clothing.

SITE RULES

When on site at Brauncewell Quarries, please obey the following rules at all times:

  • Site Speed Limit is 10mph
  • Obey all traffic signs
  • Seat belts to be worn at all times
  • Do not use mobile phones whilst driving
  • Park up in a safe place
  • Children (under 17) and Pets must be under full supervision and must remain in vehicles at all times
  • No vehicle maintenence or repairs may be carried out without prior permission from the BQ Management
  • Overloaded vehicles will not be allowed to leave the site

SMALL VEHICLES

  • Report to the weighbridge on arrival and inform staff of your requirements; we will inform the loading shovel driver
  • On site KEEP AWAY from all quarry machinery and lorries and NEVER approach these vehicles.
  • If you require assistance, stop in a safe place and wait for them to approach you
  • Do not get out of your vehicle on site unless you are within the SMALL LOAD TIP OFF AREA
  • Keep within 1 METER of your vehicle at all times
  • Do not enter the Main Quarry workings or Recycling Area
    (Marked HGVs only)

HEAVY VEHICLES (HGV’s)

  • Sheeting, load adjustments and work breaks MUST be carried out in the following areas:
    – SHEETING SHED
    – LORRY PARK
  • Otherwise remain in your cab at all times in loading areas
  • Specific Haulier Rules are distributed to all hauliers

IMPORTANT – CARS & TRAILERS

Your vehicle and trailer must be suitable for the task and in good working order (including correctly inflated tyres).                                         

 You must know the legal carrying capacity of your vehicle and trailer. For safety reasons we will not allow overloaded vehicles to leave the site.

You must be competent to drive and maneuver a vehicle and trailer. Individuals who passed their car driving test (Category B) after the 01 January 1997 are required by law to pass a trailer driving test (Category B+E) in order to tow a trailer with a maximum authorised mass (MAM) of over 750kg.
